Gruber qualifies for U.S. Olympic trials
COLUMBUS, Oh. — Mars junior Maggie Gruber completed the 100-meter butterfly at the Columbus Grand Prix at Ohio State University with a time of 1 minute, 1.81 seconds Friday, allowing her to qualify for the U.S. Olympic Time Trials, which will be held in Omaha, Neb. this June.
Gruber placed 13th overall in the event.
She was also set to compete in the 100 backstroke Friday in hopes of qualifying for the time trials as well.
Gruber captured the two events at last week's WPIAL Class AA Championship and will take part in both at next weekend's PIAA Championships.
