Knoch, SV run to titles at Rock

The girls cross country teams from Seneca Valley and Knoch won their respective classes at Saturday’s Slippery Rock Invitational.

The Raiders took the Class AAA title, thanks to five runners placing in the top 10. They included champion Mariah Mack, who won with a time of 20 minutes and two seconds, Angela Mignanelli (third, 20:08), Rachel Hensler (fourth, 20:11), Becky Paine (eighth, 20:37) and Emma Sledge (10th, 20:50).

Knoch grabbed the Class AA title, led by Mandi Moxie’s fourth-place time of 20 minutes and 53 seconds.

Also earning a medal for the Knights’ girls were Ashlyn Carlsson (15th, 21:40), Lauren Karenbauer (16th, 21:42) and Mandy Hunt (19th, 21:54).

Shannon McChesney’s eighth-place time of 21:24 led Mars, which placed second in Class AA.

Freeport received a second-place finish out of Hayley Davis (20:19) and Becca Dudek was third (20:41).

In the Class AAA boys’ meet, Seneca Valley’s Brett Foster placed ninth at 17:14, helping the Raiders finish third.

Mars was second to South Fayette in the Class AA meet. Brendan Knox had the best time for the Planets at 17:23, finishing eighth.

Knoch’s boys placed third and were paced by Brandon Grumski (second, 16:57).

Girls Soccer

Knoch received a goal from four different players in Saturday’s 4-2 home victory over Slippery Rock.

Cheyenne Huellen, Olivia Sharbaugh, Mikayla Crouch and Maddie Arbritis all found the net for the Knights (4-2).

Lexie Galbreath earned the win in net.

Scoring for Slippery Rock (2-3) were Abby Magliocca and Bailey Boyd, with Jenny Dudek and Boyd adding assists.

Boys Soccer

Brandon Vargo scored both of Knoch’s goals in a 2-1 win over Burrell.

Brett Miner was the winning goalkeeper for the Knights (4-1-3).
