SV girls net 3-0 triumph

Nicole Walters scored a pair of goals as the Seneca Valley girls soccer team knocked off Peters Township 3-0 Saturday in a rematch of last year’s WPIAL Class AAA final.

The Raiders improved to 11-2 while Peters Township fell to 10-3.

Karns City 9, Brookville 0 — Breann Wood and Emily LoPresti each scored a pair of goals in the Gremlins’ rout.

Aubrie Ball, Brianna Brusamonti, Caterina LoPresti, Emily Jones and Hanna Freiters also scored.

Morgan McCartney had two assists for Karns City (12-0).

Knoch 6, Deer Lakes 0 — The Knights rolled to this win and are 9-3 overall and 7-2 in the section.

Boys SoccerSpencer Myers, Tyler Pollock and Noah Pollock each scored goals in Karns City’s 3-0 win over Forest.David Olszak and Nick Dodds combined for the shutout in goal for the Gremlins (7-1).Seneca Valley 3, North Hills 0 — The Raiders notched the shutout in this section match to stay unbeaten in the section at 8-0 and are 9-1-1 overall.Shady Side Academy 3, Mars 1 — The Planets dropped to 7-5 overall and 4-4 in the section following this loss to first-place Shady Side Academy (9-2, 8-0).

FootballElijah Hardy ran for 169 yards and three touchdowns as Summit Academy routed Ford City 38-14.For the second consecutive week, Nathaniel Cofer returned a fumble recovery for a touchdown for the Knights (2-3, 2-2).J’Ron Hill-Phillips also scored a touchdown for Summit Academy, which amassed nearly 300 yards rushing in the contest.
