McCall, Glenn key Moniteau girls

Stephanie McCall and Fontaine Glenn played tough inside for the Moniteau girls basketball team Wednesday night.

McCall, who finished with 27 points and 11 rebounds, and Glenn, who added 12 points and 15 rebounds, helped the Warriors earn a 59-48 win at Moniteau.

The Warriors (9-4) built a 29-17 halftime lead and never trailed in the second half.

Clarion-Limestone 45, Union 39 — The Damsels dropped their 10th straight, but coach Ken Mortimer saw promise. Union (0-10) didn't allow the Lions to pull away after building a 19-13 halftime lead.

“They had a tough time scoring on us,” Mortimer said. “We played good defensively. They were a lot bigger than us.”

Sydney Varner led the Damsels with 18 points, while Kassie McGarrity added 12.

Mars 67, Highlands 49 — The Mars boys basketball team didn't allow Highlands' long-range game to slow them down.

While the Rams made eight 3-pointers, the Planets used 22 points from John Castello to earn a 67-49 Section 1-AAA win Wednesday night in Natrona Heights.

Owen Nearhoof (17 points) and Ethan Lewis (15) also scored in double figures for the Planets (8-5, 5-1).

Butler boys and girls sweep Seneca Valley — The Golden Tornado boys beat the Raiders Wednesday at Mars Lanes, 6-1. Sophomore Matthew Wetzel led Butler with a 682 series and a high game of 268.Senior Garrett Sexton added a 613 series, senior Jacob Cookson had a 617 and freshman Nick Huff bowled a 592 for the Golden Tornado (5-0). Jonathon Elluinger led Seneca Valley with a 644 series.On the girls' side, Butler (5-0) won 7-0. The Tornado was led by Kelly Bintrim, who had a 523 series and a high game of 221.Junior Megan Paul had a high game of 180 and sophomore Brianna Stivason added a 173 for Butler.Haley Hardcastle led Seneca Valley (0-5) with a 546 series and a high game of 200.

First Baptist Christian (girls basketball) 32, Portersville 18 — Hannah Roth had 10 points, eight steals and four assists for FBC while Alyssa Barnhart had seven points, nine steals and six rebounds. Lydia Roth contributed eight steals.
