Emily McDonald helped put a dent in the North Hills softball team's playoff hopes.
The Butler junior pitched seven shutout innings and struck out two to help the Golden Tornado earn a 6-0 Section 3-AAAA home win Thursday.
Rachel Rebmann belted a three-run home run in the first inning to put Butler (4-7, 3-7) ahead. Jen Miller and Hannah Hays also doubled.

Kennedy DeMatteis earned the win in Game 1, striking out 11 batters. She also hit a double and drove in a run.
Cortney Claypoole drove in four runs between both games and doubled three times.
Taylor Hasychak, who picked up the win in the nightcap for the Warriors (11-0, 4-0), also drove in four runs between both games.

Matt Huey had eight blocks and 20 kills to lead Butler to a 25-22, 25-21, 23-25, 25-12 road win over Pine-Richland.Andrew Paterno also had 34 assists for the Golden Tornado (9-2, 7-2). Josh Kauffman had nine passes and Chris Fiorina contributed 12 digs.
