Boys TennisMars' top doubles team of sophomore Alex Gruber and freshman Noah Raymundo earned the only win for the Planets in a 4-1 loss to Sewickley Academy in the WPIAL Class AA team championship, held at North Allegheny High School.Mars advances to the PIAA tournament as the WPIAL's second-place team.
Track and FieldKnoch's Rachel Kroneberg won the girls shot put (33-2) and discus (97-7) in the WPIAL Class AAA team semifinals at West Mifflin. While the Knights defeated Oakland Catholic 90-50, they failed to advance to the finals with losses to Chartiers Valley (85-64) and North Allegheny (126-24).In the boys' meet, Jordan Geist also captured the shot put (56-9) and discus (156-5) as Knoch defeated Franklin Regional (78-72), Uniontown (120-30) and West Mifflin (95-54). Only a 119-31 loss to North Allegheny kept the Knights from advancing to the championship round.
