'Jackets beat up Lancers

Josh Beale scored 35 points as the Freeport boys basketball team rolled past Deer Lakes, 79-58, in high school boys basketball action Friday night.

Mason Eddinger added 16 points and Kris Keppel 14 for the Yellowjackets (9-4, 3-3).

Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic 83, Aquinas Academy 34 — Vince LeGrande scored 16 points and Timon Gribbin added 12 in the Trojans’ rout.

Cardinal Wuerl (6-6, 4-1) led 48-16 at the half.

Postponements — Several area games were postponed due to inclement weather.

The Moniteau at Karns City boys basketball game was postponed and rescheduled for Saturday at 2 p.m.

The Karns City at Moniteau girls basketball game was also postponed and rescheduled for Saturday at 6 p.m.

A-C Valley’s boys and girls basketball games vs. Keystone were postponed. Rescheduled dates have not been determined.

The Union boys basketball game at Tidioute Charter was postponed. No make-up date was determined.

The Grove City girls basketball game against West Middlesex was also postponed with no make-up date as of yet.

Private Schools

First Baptist Christian (boys) 60, Slippery Rock Homeschoolers 49 — Aaron Drake had 21 points and five rebounds for FBC while Javier Iglesia contributed 19 points and five assists.

Trevor Barnhart had 16 points, 18 rebounds, seven assists and six steals.
