Dennis C. Fennell

Dennis Fennell

Dennis C. Fennell, 61, of Boise, Idaho, passed away on Aug. 30, 2021, at his home of natural causes.

Dennis was born on Jan. 20, 1960, in Butler, to Earl and Diana Fennell.

Dennis grew up in East Butler. He graduated from Butler High School in 1978.

In November 1981 just before Thanksgiving, Dennis met the love of his life, Kathy. It was love at first sight. Dennis and Kathy were married Aug. 7, 1982. Dennis worked for Magnetics in East Butler, before moving to Boise, Idaho, in 1988. Once in Boise, he started in the car business, working for a variety of dealerships and auto auctions in the Treasure Valley for 33 years, spending the last 13 years working for Dennis Dillon in Boise, as a pre-owned inventory manager.

Dennis was also a music minister for a time at Cloverdale Church of God in Boise.

Anyone who knew Dennis knew a few things for sure, he loved God, he loved his family, he loved cars (especially old muscle cars) and he LOVED the Pittsburgh Steelers! He loved Christmas, especially the homemade frosting on the sugar cookies! He loved to watch everyone open their presents, and he had a childlike awe when he put up the decorations every year.

He had a great sense of humor and would laugh even if you told him a bad joke. His only hobby was singing praise and worship songs to his God and King, not just on Sundays, but everyday! In the car while driving from dealership to dealership while working, he would sing praise, and some songs would move him to tears. He owned a karaoke machine that he used to record praise and worship CDs for his family back east because they missed his warm soothing voice.

He met very few people who didn't automatically fall in love with him. He was the most genuine and accepting man. He didn't care what you looked like, what your background was, or how much money you had in your bank account. He treated everyone the same with dignity and respect. He gave so much of himself and never asked for anything in return. He always put others before himself. He loved God and his family more than anything in the world.

Before his parents passed away, he would talk to them on the phone a few times a week, and every night he would spend a few hours on Facebook messenger with his daughter, Diana, talking about life or sending random funny gifs. He was the type that would give you the shirt off your back, even if he didn't have another just to make sure you were warm.

He loved all of his pets over the years from his dog BooBoo, to most recently his cats, Booties, BarBar and Puffy. He loved feeding the neighborhood squirrels peanuts when he would get home from work, and a couple of them would even take them right out of his hand!

He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Gone to soon for those of us he left behind, but we know that God's timing is always perfect. He touched so many lives over the years, and his family prays that his legacy will carry on by all of those whose lives he affected.

Dennis is survived by his wife of 39 years, Kathy L. Fennell; a daughter, Diana, and son-in-law, Joseph Booth; his mother-in-law, Pauline Dunkle; his brother, Earl (Lois) Fennell; his brother-in-law, Joseph (Nina) Dunkle his sister-in-law, Vera (Jeff) Lough; his brother-in-law, Gary (Trisha) Dunkle; and many nieces and nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Orval Dunkle; his brother-in-law, Robert Dunkle; his mother Diana D. Fennell; his father Earl S. Fennell; as well as three angel grandbabies.

“I will sing praise to the Lord throughout my life. I will make music to praise my God as long as I live.” Psalm 104:33
