Trending glass artist Chad Parker didn't lose his marbles. But he did hide some in Butler County and you are invited to find them.

Parker of Fawn Township, Allegheny County, plans to include Butler County locations when he participates in an upcoming hunt called the World's Biggest Marble Hunt.

During the hunt, artists from around the world will hide about 10,000 collectible marbles. The artists will give clues about the marble's whereabouts on social media beginning July 23.

Parker, whose specialty is a face compression marble he calls “Monster Marblzs,” will hide between 20 and 30 pieces between The Glass Blowing Center in Hilliards and the city of Pittsburgh.

For clues to play along in the hunt for Parker's marbles, you must follow his Facebook page.

Modestly, Parker admits his designs, which fetch between $75 and $450 each have recently gained popularity.

“Because they are so unique and amazing. They are wonderful collector items,” said Elaine Doner, owner of the Glass Center. “There's a lot of marbles out there. You see a lot of flowers or planets. But they are nothing like his monsters.”

Parker, a 37-year-old metal fabricator, has been involved in marble making for about eight years. He said he generally sells one marble a day. However, most of his customers live in Denver or California or other places where the marble collecting is more prevalent. Many of those areas have been having popular marble hunts for years, he said.

“There's not a huge following in the Pittsburgh region,” he said.

Parker said his marbles will be hidden on public property. Clues will be posted until someone finds each marble. Those who find them are asked to report the win.

“It's going to be crazy,” Parker said.
