Callihan, Texter power KC to 10-0 win
Tyler Callihan pitched a four-hit shutout with nine strikeouts and added two singles and three RBI to lead the Karns City baseball team to a 10-0, six-inning victory over Redbank Valley Tuesday.
Kyle Texter smacked a grand slam home run in the fourth inning to give the Gremlins a 4-0 advantage.
In other action:
Jake Lassinger doubled and drove in two runs as Freeport defeated Knoch 5-3. Ryan Bollinger pitched five innings for the win.
Jim Jaskowak hit a three-run home run and also pitched two perfect innings as Grove City opened its season with a 10-1 win over Oil City.
Sophomore left-hander Bob Revesz struck out six and walked just one in five innings of work to pick up the victory for the Eagles, who will fly to Orlando, Fla., for a three-day tournament starting Thursday.
Mark Lucas scored the game's winning run on an error in the bottom of the sixth inning as Mars outlasted Burrell, 9-8.
Lucas added two singles in the win.
Cranberry scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning to spoil the pitching performance of Union's Adam Milanovich, who pitched a complete game, one-hitter with 10 strikeouts in a 2-1 defeat in KSAC action.
