Freeport shoots down Deer Lakes in season opener

Nick Rutkoski scored 18 points and grabbed nine rebounds Friday night as the Freeport boys basketball team defeated Deer Lakes, 59-45, in the first round of the Springdale Tip-Off Tournament.

Nate Kotecki added 11 points while Brian Zimmerman had nine assists and nine rebounds.

Bill Holtz paced Deer Lakes with 19 points.
