Campbell paces Freeport in section win

Sam Campbell scored 20 points and added 10 rebounds to lead the Freeport girls basketball team to a 58-44 section win over West Shamokin Monday.

Jordan Dunn added nine points and eight assists for the Yellowjackets.

The Yellowjackets (2-4, 1-1) connected on 11 3-pointers with freshman Anna Christy hitting six for her 18 points.

Butler's junior high wrestling team defended its title Saturday at the second annual Butler Junior High Duals.The Golden Tornado defeated the other five teams in the competition, knocking off Bethel Park 84-16, Shaler 74-25, Trinity 78-18, Hopewell 78-24 and North Allegheny 70-26.North Allegheny was 4-0 entering its dual match with Butler. The Tornado recorded 37 pins on the day.Dillon Hartman, wrestling at 130 or 138 pounds, pinned all five of his opponents. Cody Hartman at 122, Robert Punchar at 130 or 138 and Dakoda Collins at 145 won all of their matches and recorded four pins each.Also unbeaten on the day for Butler were Tyler McCue at 80 pounds, Zack Collins at 110, Matt Pribis at 155, Blaise Wheeler at 210 and Matt Kenyon at 250.
