By carding a 325 in the District 10 Region 2 megamatch on Monday — led by Jeff Tracy's 77 and Tim Chavez's 78 — the Slippery Rock golf team captured the region title.

Slippery Rock won five of the six megamatch events, placing second out of the six teams in the season opener.

Grove City's Ryan Prokay earned medalist honors Monday by firing a 72. He was also named the region player of the year. His five best scores averaged a score of 73.

By winning the region, the Rockets will advance with five other teams to the regional finals Oct. 4 at North Hills Golf Course in Corry.

The Rockets' quartet of Tracy, Chavez, Brian Gielser and Shawn Beatty also qualified for the individual regional finals Oct. 7 at Oaktree Country Club in West Middlesex.

Prokay and teammate Steve Deyarmin also qualified for the individual region finals, giving the two schools six of the nine golfers coming out of Region 2.
