Rockets cruise in playoff opener
The Slippery Rock High girls soccer team's offense came to play Wednesday afternoon in the District 10 Class AA playoffs.
Kayla Daugherty scored three goals to lead the offensive onslaught for the Rockets in a 6-0 rout of Cambridge Springs.
Hannah Willison, who is back in net as the Rockets' goalkeeper after missing last season with a torn ACL, got the shutout for Slippery Rock.
Emily Raine, Addie Birkes and Bailey Boyd also scored for Slippery Rock (9-8-1), which will play Hickory Saturday at a site and time to be determined in the district quarterfinals.
Grove City 3, Fort LeBoeuf 0 — Abby Fulkerson got the shutout in net for the Eagles.
Grove City (15-4) will play Conneaut Saturday in the District 10 Class AA quarterfinals at a site and time to be determined.
Boys Soccer
Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic (17-2-1) downed Eden Christian 2-0 in the WPIAL Class A quarterfinals.
The Trojans will play Seton-La Salle (19-1) Saturday at a site and time to be determined.
