Butler matmen place 3rd at C-H

Isaiah Christy at 113 pounds and Tommy Greaves at 195 pounds both placed second for the Butler wrestling team at the Chartiers Houston Invitational over the weekend.

Christy and Greaves both lost in their title bouts for the Golden Tornado, who finished third in the 28-team tournament behind North Hills and Freedom.

Scott Dietrich (138) and Caleb Baxter (160) both placed third and Jack Codispot (126) and Saavon Mosby (220) logged fourth-place finishes for the Tornado.

Greenville Classic — Grove City went 3-2 in dual meets over the weekend in Greenville.

Cory Bable (126) and Tyler Greer (152) both went 5-0 for the Eagles.

Bowling

Logan Wells rolled a 586 series with a high game of 213 in his first varsity start to lead the Butler boys to a 7-0 win over Seneca Valley.

Nick Huff had the high game of the day with 234 and finished with a 564 series. Freshman Chris Huff rolled a 562 series with a high game of 201 for Butler.

Derek Weaver led Seneca Valley with a 508 series and a high game of 223.

On the girls side, Mercedes Belch had a 525 series with a high game of 184 to lead the Golden Tornado to a 7-0 win over Seneca Valley.

Maddie Ferringer led the Raiders with a 499 series.

Rifle

Butler 799 (57x), Avella 793 (54x) — The Golden Tornado won their season opener as Luke Montag, Chase Runyan, Camie Tack, Jason Hansotte, Brendan Lefevre, Tiffany Carlson and Kyle Wassum all shot 100.
