Loren Dale Houpt, 52, of Slippery Rock Township died at 7 a.m. Friday at his home.

Born in Pittsburgh Jan. 29, 1957, he was the son of Charles Haberlein Houpt and Marjorie Moulton.

He had been a bank manager at Pittsburgh Home Savings in Butler, later called Bank Pittsburgh, for 20 years.

He graduated from Mars High School in 1975 and from Lambeth College in Jackson, Tenn., in 1981. He was active in theater in both high school and college.

He greatly enjoyed boating and was active in service for the Applewood Homeowners Association. He was very interested in and served on the board of directors for the Penn Theater in Butler. His hobbies also included model railroading.

Surviving are mother, Marjorie M. Houpt of Slippery Rock; a brother, Darryl S. (and his wife, Denise) Houpt of Slippery Rock; a niece, Dana Elyse Houpt of Slippery Rock; and a nephew, Dustin (and his wife, Alaina) Houpt of Slippery Rock.

He was preceded in death by his father.

<B>HOUPT</B> — Visitation for Loren Dale Houpt, who died Friday, Jan. 8, 2010, will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the <B>Smith Funeral Home</B>, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. William Mumaw, pastor of the Center Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment will be at the Mount Royal Cemetery, Glenshaw.Memorial contributions may be given to the charity of the donor's choice.
