[naviga:h3]Cranberry CRT expands services[/naviga:h3]

Cranberry Township is expanding the footprint of its Community Response Team to help more people impacted by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The team, a group of more than 130 volunteers from Cranberry and the surrounding area, will now aid those in the general southeastern tier of Butler County, including residents of Cranberry, Jackson and Lancaster townships, as well as Evans City, Harmony and Zelienople boroughs.

The CRT responded quickly following Gov. Tom Wolf’s order to close all non-essential businesses in light of COVID-19, organizing an event where volunteers shopped for needy residents, using gift cards purchased through donations to the Cranberry Township Community Chest.

Following a donation by MarkWest Energy Partners, Cranberry was able to expand the effort beyond its own municipal borders. Residents in the southeastern tier can request assistance by visiting cranberrytownship.org/CRT or by dialing 724-776-4806.

[naviga:h3]KC school district audit performed[/naviga:h3]

A regular state audit of the Karns Area City School District found the district is in compliance with state requirements in all significant respects. The audit also showed the district properly implemented policies and procedures for internal controls, budgetary practices, Right-to-Know and Sunshine laws.

The lone finding by auditors was an inaccurate report on the number of nonpublic school students being transported, which resulted in a $10,000 overpayment to the district.
