Cathy Glasgow, president of Butler County Ford, has been elected president of the Greater Pittsburgh Automobile Dealers Association for 2016-17.

She recently was handed her special “pink” gavel at Rivers Casino at the association’s annual meeting by 2015-16 President Paul Schimizzi of Hillview Motors.

The organization represents all franchised new car dealers in Western Pennsylvania, sponsors the annual Pittsburgh International Auto Show, does charitable giving through its foundation and operates a federal credit union for its members.

As president of the association, Glasgow said, “My goals are to try to be a sounding board for the dealers, so we can talk about new, innovative ideas for the dealers. If there’s an issue, we can help them with the issue.”

Glasgow noted that she plans to continue with the charitable aspects of the organization, which include putting on the auto show and partnering with the Vintage Grand Prix.

The foundation hosts the Red CARpet Premiere to generate funds for charitable initiatives throughout the year, and is the presenting sponsor of the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix, which benefits the Autism Society of Pittsburgh and the Allegheny Valley School.

The Vintage Grand Prix and association foundation presented a joint check for $400,000 to these charities at the 2016 Red CARpet event.

Glasgow, a Butler native, graduated from Duquesne University in 1971 and began as a salesperson at Butler County Ford in 1972. The dealership was founded by her grandfather, Walter Cramer, and passed on to her father, Anthony Johns.

Glasgow inherited the dealership when her father died in 2004.
