Two injured in motorcycle crash

WINFIELD TWP — A man and woman were injured, at least one seriously, Sunday night when the motorcycle they were riding crashed on Winfield Road, authorities said.

Thomas A. McKee Sr., 58, of Clearfield Township, the driver, and his passenger, Michelle Lee Miller, 44, of Clay Township, were both flown by medical helicopter to a Pittsburgh hospital after they struck their heads in the wreck in Winfield Township.

Neither rider was wearing a helmet, state police said.

Miller suffered a serious head injury and McKee had injuries described as “moderate,” according to a police report.

Troopers said the couple was eastbound about 8:50 p.m. when a deer ran in front of their 2010 Harley Davidson, forcing McKee to lay down the cycle at the intersection of Cornplanter Road.

A neighbor saw the crash and called 911. He also reported finding a deer carcass.

Winfield and Buffalo Township volunteer fire departments and Saxonburg Ambulance were called. Firefighters set up a landing zone for the helicopters at a field on Winfield Road.

McKee and Miller were taken to Allegheny General Hospital. Their conditions were not known this morning.
