Butler senior 1 goal away from tying goal-scoring record owned by father

Landon Mohney scored five goals Monday night — pulling within one of Butler's career scoring record — in the Golden Tornado's 6-1 win over Shaler.

Mohney has scored 13 goals in his last three games and has 28 tallies on the season. His father, Butler coach Troy Mohney, holds the program's career goal mark of 62.

Aiden Soley added a goal for Butler Monday and Carson Knight had two assists. Gavin Varner, Andrew Lucas, Evan Lubinsky and Isaac Boring also assisted on goals.

Butler hosts Seneca Valley Wednesday night.

Hampton 7, Knoch 1 — The Knights slipped to 5-6-1 in section play, 6-7-2 overall with this loss. Knoch plays at Indiana Wednesday.

Slippery 1, Hiockory 0 — David Magliocca scored the lone goal of the night for the Rockets (9-3-2), assisted by Logan Arblaster.

Connor Wallace had five saves in getting the shutout. Slippery Rock hosts Conneaut (Pa.) at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Sam Miller and Natalie Mason scored two goals each and Butler's girls soccer team remained unbeaten Monday with a 6-1 win over Shaler.Chloe Weiland and Chiara Sloboda added single tallies for the Golden Tornado (11-0-2). Sloboda's goal was her first varsity tally this season.McKenna and Delaney Yaracs combined to make six saves in goal. Butler hosts Seneca Valley Tuesday night.Karns City 3, Wilmington 0 — Emma Dailey scored a pair of goals in the Gremlins' victory.McKenna Martin also scored for Karns City (12-2) while Taylor Miller, Lyrik Reed and Abby Callihan had assists.Karns City is off until Saturday, when it hosts Hickory.

Meah Ielase had 14 kills and 17 digs, but A-C Valley dropped a 3-2 decision to North Clarion.Scores were 26-24, 26-28, 25-22, 14-25, 7-15.Paige Klingler had six kills, Lexi Ruckdeschell three blocks and 25 digs, Makenzie Parks 21 assists, Keira McVay 13 digs.The Falcons host Clarion-Limestone Tuesday night.Cranberry 3, Karns City 1 — Rosie Carden had two aces, two kills, five assists and four digs for the Gremlins, who lost by scores of 19-25, 25-13, 25-11, 25-9.Ava Fox had 12 digs and three kills, Emma Johns four aces, four kills, four assists and three digs for the Gremlins.
