HARMONY — A new operations director for the borough’s water authority was named by council Tuesday evening.

Frank Grannon, a Portersville resident, was appointed to the newly created position.

He will replace Wade Ion, the water system supervisor, who retires Nov. 23.

Ion announced his plan to retire at council’s Oct. 4 meeting. He has been a borough employee for about 14 years.

Borough solicitor Matt Racunas said the new position will “take over” Ion’s responsibilities, but will not require the licensure that Ion holds.

“This person will be the management head of the authority,” Racunas said.

Grannon had no comment.
