Monday night might bring clarity for those questioning the future of various Butler School District buildings.

Superintendent Brian White posted a note on the district's website ahead of the school board's regular Monday meeting. During the school year, the district held several open meetings to collect feedback on school building configurations. Parents, teachers and community members submitted written comments on several modified setups. Most of the discussed options at those meetings included closing the downtown middle school building.

White wrote that he'll present all the information gathered at those meetings and then make his own recommendation at Monday's meeting. He'll post a copy of the report online afterward, along with a link to an online survey for more input collection.

During a February school board meeting, White gave a short look at the initial findings of community surveys. Simply maintaining the existing set of buildings roughly tied with a move toward a more typical elementary-middle-high school structure. The latter would see the closure of the middle school building.

In recent months, White has been a vocal skeptic regarding the middle school, especially in the context of the district's long-term debt. The building is 102 years old and administrators say it needs maintenance and repairs that will cost in the millions.

White will present during the school board's meeting, which begins at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Intermediate High School library. The Butler Eagle will cover the meeting.
