BUTLER TWP — The person most seriously injured when a car crashed into The Hair Specialist on Thursday is recovering at home, and the shop has reopened.

Township police believe Edward Holmes, 54, of Grove City suffered a medical condition that caused him to drive his car from the Moraine Pointe Plaza parking lot, through the business’ outside glass wall and collide with a hair dresser station and a waiting area. Holmes reportedly suffered no injuries due to the accident.

When the crash occurred, 74-year-old Barbara Walters of Butler was getting out of a hairdressing chair.

Walters was knocked down by Holmes’ Chrysler Sebring as it traveled 60 feet into the building. She was taken by medical helicopter to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.

One of Walters’ family members on Tuesday said Walters spent two days at the hospital before returning home. The family member said Walters is still recovering.

Leroy Bunyan, 65, of Renfrew and Brian Thompson, no age or address, both were inside the salon and were treated for injuries.

Township police have ended their investigation and determined that no charges will be filed.

In the meantime, the glass wall has been temporarily repaired. The salon reopened Monday.

However, Mariner Finance, which is the business that shares a damaged interior wall with The Hair Specialist, remains closed.
