Butler Police3:55 p.m. Sunday — Christopher E. Abbott, 22, of Butler was arrested after he allegedly attacked a former girlfriend during a domestic dispute at her home on Kaufman Drive. Abbott is accused of kicking Sarah Dodgson in her stomach and grabbing her by the throat.Dodgson told police Abbott also slammed her into walls and doors. She suffered minor injuries.Abbott was arraigned on a charge of simple assault, and placed in Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail.
Butler Twp Police9:44 p.m. Friday — An 11-year-old girl was caught with two large folding knives at the Butler High School football game against Pine-Richland. She is charged in juvenile court with possession of a weapon on school property.3:11 p.m. Friday — Elizabeth Ann Walker, 19, of Butler allegedly stole a purse from TQ Nail Salon on South Duffy Road. Sharon E. Walker, 56, of Butler is accused of destroying the purse.The younger Walker is charged with theft. The elder Walker is charged with theft of lost or mislaid property, receiving stolen property and criminal mischief.
Penn Twp Police7:10 a.m. Monday — A sport utility vehicle driven by Zachary Hinchberger, 24, of Summit Township struck and sheared off a utility pole along Mushrush Road. Hinchberger told police he lost control of his vehicle after a deer ran onto the road.Hinchberger was not hurt but his vehicle had to be towed. Police said he faces a ticket for driving with worn tires.
State Police, Clarion6:18 a.m. Monday — No one was injured when a 2002 Dodge Caravan caught fire on Lawsonham Road in Madison Township. Danny C. Smith, 56, of Templeton, the driver, and his passenger, Steven Shick, 39, also of Templeton were able to safely get out of the minivan. The Rimersburg Volunteer Fire Department was called and put out the blaze.Monday — Police reported they have launched an investigation into reports that a 34-year-old Shippenville man beginning in 2012 repeatedly exposed himself and engaged in lewd acts in front of a 15-year-old girl at a home in Toby Township. No other information about the investigation was released.4:33 p.m. Wednesday — A 31-year-old Grove City man is suspected of shoplifting $316 worth of merchandise from the Walmart in Monroe Township. He ran away before a store employees could stop him.Five hours later, he turned himself in. Police said the retail theft case remains open pending additional investigation. Authorities did not identify the suspect.
State Police, FranklinSunday — A burglar stole property worth $2,000 to $3,000 from a detached garage at a home on Route 8 in Irwin Township. Stolen in the break-in between 10 a.m. Saturday and 4 p.m. Sunday were construction tools and children’s toys.7:40 p.m. Thursday — A sport utility vehicle driven by Nicole L. Sadler, 28, of Butler and a minivan driven by Irene C. White, 32, of Pleasantville collided at Titusville Road and Merrick Street in Oil Creek Township. Police cited Sadler for a stop sign violation.
State Police, Kittanning4:55 p.m. Monday — Marissa L. Schawl, 19, of Templeton lost control of her car and struck a utility pole along in River Road in Rayburn Township. The car ended on its driver’s side. Schawl told police the crash happened when she swerved to avoid a deer on the road. Schwal was not hurt but her vehicle had to be towed. Police said she faces a ticket for driving at an unsafe speed.
