Butler junior swimmer Laura Goettler broke North Allegheny’s pool record in the girls’ 100-yard breaststroke in a meet last Thursday.

Goettler’s time of one minute, 4.21 seconds topped the old standard of 1:04.76, set by Butler’s Stephanie O’Toole in 2013.

BUTLER TWP — The Butler County Community College home basketball doubleheader Wednesday with Penn Highlands has been postponed.

No makeup date has been announced.

Karns City graduate Mackenzie Craig needs 16 points to break Julia Baxter’s program record of 1,093 career points. The Pioneers play Saturday at Potomac (Md.).

[naviga:h3]SRU loses 2 assistant coaches[/naviga:h3]

SLIPPERY ROCK — The Slippery Rock University football program is losing offensive coordinator Justin Roper and running backs graduate assistant coach Billy Fessler.

Roper is joining the Northern Iowa staff as quarterbacks coach. Fessler will join the offensive staff at Mississippi State. Fessler was a quarterback at Penn State when MSU head coach Joe Moorhead was offensive coordinator of the Nittany Lions.

SRU has a national search under way to replace both coaches.

[naviga:h3]Marzolf earns PAC swimming honor[/naviga:h3]

PITTSBURGH — Deer Lakes graduate and former Butler YMCA swimmer Mallory Marzolf, a sophomore on the Chatham University swim team, has been named Presidents’ Athletic Conference Women’s Swimmer of the Week.

Marzolf combined for four first-place finishes in her team’s 136-126 win over Saint Vincent. She swam a leg of the winning 200-yard medley relay and won the 50 freestyle, 200 freestyle and 200 backstroke.
