Club's collection benefits children, families in need

“Mars Area senior Lily Bartholic organized a community service project through the nonprofit, Inspired Hearts and Hands (IH2). Lily, along with members of the Mars Area High SchoolþÄôs Interact Club, collected and donated items to benefit local children and families.”

As part of a community service project, members of Mars Area High School’s Interact Club collected and donated various items to benefit children and families in need in Butler and Allegheny counties.

Club members donated various supplies to make holiday-themed treat bags that will be distributed to those in need throughout the community by the local nonprofit Inspired Hearts and Hands (IH2).

The students also donated gifts to benefit local children as part of the 2020 IH2 Angel Tree Initiative.

Senior Lily Bartholic, who has volunteered for IH2 for several years, organized the service project. Seeing a greater need than she herself could fulfill, she called upon her fellow Interact Club members to help support the cause.

“Many people in our area are struggling financially and also with loneliness. COVID-19 has only increased the need,” Lily said. “We can make a difference by showing them: ‘we see you.’”
