Drug felon to spend year on probation

A drug felon was sentenced Thursday to serve 11½ to 23 months in prison for possession of heroin.

However, Butler County Judge Tim McCune agreed to immediately parole 22-year-old Davon D. Stevens because he already spent 303 days in prison awaiting resolution of the case. He will spend the next year on probation.

According to court records, city police initially stopped Stevens’ Lincoln sedan on May 26, 2015, because it had illegally tinted windows.

When Stevens left the vehicle, a Crown Royal bag containing 30 stamp bags of suspected heroin fell out of the car, according to court records.

Court records show only months before this arrest, in March 2015, Stevens pleaded guilty to felony drug possession of 50 bags of heroin.

However, he was immediately paroled at sentencing because he’d been jailed since the previous fall on that case.
