Once Logan Lutz and Kameron Patterson got on the same page, there wasn’t much Warren could do to stop the Grove City High wide receiver and quarterback.

Patterson connected with Lutz on touchdown passes of 16, 12 and 21 yards to lead the Eagles (2-0, 1-0) to a big 43-20 win in their Region 5 opener.

Patterson finished with 121 yards passing, while Lutz had 49 yards receiving.

Trey Adams also scored twice and gained 81 yards rushing for Grove City, which never trailed and built a 43-7 halftime lead.

Clarion-Limestone 20, Union/A-C Valley 18 — Lucas Bowser threw for 202 yards and two touchdowns, but the Falcon Knights fell in their season opener.

Gavin Hawk caught eight passes for 142 yards for Union/A-C Valley.

The Falcon Knights rushed for only 61 yards on 31 carries.

Greenville 34, Slippery Rock 14 — The Rockets trailed the Trojans 20-14 in the fourth quarter before Greenville scored two late touchdowns to pull away.

Neshannock 36, Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic 0 — The Trojans managed just 164 yards of offense and fell behind 36-0 in this season-opening loss.

Frank Antuono rushed for two touchdowns and also passed for two scores for Neshannock.

Morgan Penn led Freeport with a 7-over par 42 to help the Yellowjackets top Valley 224-332 Friday at Buffalo Golf Course.

TJ Pascucci also shot a 43 for Freeport (6-1, 5-0).
