Butler man charged in October car crash

CONNOQUENESSING TWP — Police charged a Butler man Monday after he allegedly crashed into a stopped car in October and fled the scene on foot.

On Oct. 16, Rocco Colonello, 31, of Butler was reportedly driving down Evans City Road when police say he crashed into the car in front of him after it stopped in traffic.

The other driver was injured and Colonello ran from the scene as police responded to the crash, documents state.

Officers arrived and found that Colonello’s driver’s license was under suspension, documents state.

While officers were investigating, police said Colonello returned to the scene and admitted that he had been the one driving. He told them that he ran because of the suspended license, documents state.

Colonello is charged with causing an accident involving an injury, damage to property, driving with a suspended license, failure to stop and give information, failure to notify police and a number of other traffic violations.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled Nov. 27.
