BUTLER TWP — The Emigh Jewelry Co, will open Monday at its new location at Butler Crossing.

The store is at 540 Butler Crossing, Suite 7.

The new company was formed by Robert Emigh, a former jewelry store manager at Clearview Mall and co-owner of a prominent jewelry store on Main Street in Butler who has more than three decades of experience in the industry.

He is joined in the business by his son, Zachary, who is a recent graduate of the Gemological Institute of America.

Emigh said the business was planning a “soft” opening with “no big splash,” but intends to carry on the family’s tradition of stellar service and custom-created jewelry for clients.

“I believe in doing whatever it takes to make them happy,” Emigh said. “We’ve always believed in service being key.”

He said the store would offer all types of jewelry, with a variety of diamond engagement ring mountings and an on-site shop to create made-to-order rings.

KITTANNING — Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield said ACMH Hospital has received the Blue Distinction® Center+ for Maternity Care designation, a new designation under the Blue Distinction Specialty Care program.

This Centers+ for Maternity Care program evaluates hospitals on quality measures.

Hospitals that receive this designation agreed to meet requirements that align with principles that support evidence-based practices of care, as well as having programs to promote breastfeeding.

The program also evaluates hospitals on overall patient satisfaction.

To receive a Blue Distinction Centers+ for Maternity Care designation, a hospital also must meet requirements for cost efficiency.

Since 2006, Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies across the nation have recognized more than 650 hospitals as Blue Distinction Centers+ for Maternity Care.

NEW YORK — Beware the underdog.

J.C. Penney Co. delivered strong fourth-quarter results, wrapping up a year when it stole market share over rivals.

The company, based in Plano, Texas, also offered an upbeat sales outlook, as efforts to spruce up its merchandise is winning over shoppers. Investors cheered, pushing shares up 12 percent by midday Friday.

The company posted annual sales of $12.6 billion for the year ended Jan. 30, up 3 percent from the prior year.
