Butler Twp PoliceTuesday — Police charged Diamond S. McCracken, 33, of Butler with shoplifting about $60 in merchandise June 10 at the Butler Commons’ Walmart. McCracken, who has two prior shoplifting conviction, is charged with a felony count of retail theft.
State Police, ButlerSaturday — A thief used a hose to siphon about 2 gallons of gasoline from a lawn mower at a 62-year-old man’s home on Anderson Road in Clinton Township.10:39 p.m. Friday — Jacob Bauer, 33, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on South Main Street in Butler.
State Police, Franklin12:28 a.m. Sunday — The right front of a Subaru Outback driven by James M. Haskin, 65, of Emlenton struck the left side of another SUV parked on the side of Emlenton-Clintonville Road in Scrubgrass Township. The crash dislodged the left rear wheel assembly of the other SUV and pushed the unoccupied vehicle about three feet.Haskin’s vehicle crossed over the road and traveled into a ditch. He managed to get out of the ditch and drove away. The same vehicle, in the wreck, lost a hubcap, which had a Subaru symbol on it. The crash also left a gouge in the road.Police followed a trail of vehicle fluid to a home about two miles away, where they found Haskin’s Subaru. The vehicle had heavy front end damage and appeared to have been driven with no right front tire, which investigators say caused the gouge in the road.A police report said Haskin faces multiple traffic violations. The other SUV owner, who police did not identify, faces a ticket for illegal parking.The Emlenton Volunteer Fire Department assisted police at the crash scene.
State Police, KittanningSunday — A thief made off with a woman’s purse after breaking into her locked vehicle at the Hilltop Plaza Wal-Mart in East Franklin Township. A short time later, police found the suspect, a 25-year-old Yatesboro man. The man was found with suspected drug paraphernalia.Police said their investigation continues and they did not identify the suspect.5:03 p.m. Friday — A 31-year-old Ford City man, who police did not identify, allegedly assaulted a 31-year-old Sarver woman at a home on Logansport Road in Bethel Township. Police said the suspect faces a charge of simple assault.2:26 p.m. Friday — A southwestern Ohio man allegedly assaulted a 74-year-old Karns City man at a home on Hillsville Road in Perry Township, Armstrong County. The suspect, who police did not identify, faces a charge of simple assault.June 28 — Police filed drugged driving and other charges against Nathan K. Frndak, 34, of Saxonburg stemming from a May 13 traffic stop on Route 28 at Exit 12 in Springdale, Allegheny County.In addition to driving under the influence of a controlled substance, Frndak is charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, and driving an unregistered vehicle.June 12 — An unknown burglar broke into a 47-year-old Rimersburg man’s seasonal home on Route 68 in Bradys Bend Township and stole copper wire, piping and hand tools. The burglary happened between June 1 and 12.
State Police, MercerFriday — An unknown thief stole an unspecified prescription medication from a 62-year-old woman’s home on East Main Street Extension in Pine Township, Mercer County.5:41 p.m. Thursday — One person was hurt in a two-vehicle wreck in Wolf Creek Township. The crash happened when a car driven by Jordan T. Sleppy, 18, of Tylersburg, Clarion County, rear-ended a tractor-trailer on Interstate 80.Sleppy, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injures. Police cited Sleppy for careless driving. Silas Landaverde-Castro, 36, of Hempstead, N.Y., was driving the rig.8:30 a.m. Thursday — A pickup truck driven by Edward E. Kregar, 59, of Prospect collided with a car at Franklin and Springfield Church roads in Jackson Township, Mercer County. Police cited Kregar for a stop sign violation. Kaitlin L. McClearn, 19, of Stoneboro was the other driver.
State Police, New CastleJuly 1 — Nearly $1,000 worth of property was stolen in a burglary at a 40-year-old man’s home on Wildlife Drive in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County.Taken in the break-in was a backpack with hunting gear, an Apple iPad, a plastic container with about $150 in coins and the victim’s checkbook.
