Harmony-Zelienople band to perform

Members of the HZ Jazz Band are rehearsing for their upcoming performance Friday at Seneca Valley High School's auditorium.

JACKSON TWP — The sounds of big band jazz will permeate the air at 7 p.m. Friday as the Harmony-Zelienople Jazz Band, known as the HZ Jazz Band for short, performs in concert in the Seneca Valley High School auditorium, 122 Seneca School Road.

The HZ Jazz Band is a local, nonprofit 19-piece group under the direction of Andrew Karns.

This full swing band, a subsidiary of the Harmony-Zelienople Community Band, promotes contemporary and traditional jazz.

The show will feature the music of Frank Sinatra and Count Basie, as well as some other tunes and ballads from the group's soloists.

Guests for the evening performance will be trombonist Bob Matchett III and saxophonist Jason Kush.

Tickets are $5 in advance, and any available tickets will be $7 at the door.
