PITTSBURGH — A Pittsburgh woman has been sentenced to 2½ to 5 years in prison in the death of her 18-month-old daughter, who was found to have opiates in her system.

Sondra Rector, 26, of Pittsburgh was sentenced Monday in the June 2014 death of Naveah Andiorio.

She pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter, endangering the welfare of children and drug counts.

Authorities say it’s unclear whether the child died from a morphine pill that was missing or if she ingested heroin.

Defense attorney Anthony Borrero wanted his client released from jail and put in a drug-treatment program.
