Twp. commissioners table traffic signal maintenance bids
BUTLER TWP — Butler Township commissioners opened bids for traffic signal maintenance at their meeting Monday and tabled the bids for review.
Bids from Traffic Systems and Services of Crafton and Bronder Technical Services of Prospect contained various hourly rates for employees responding to off-hour calls for repairs.
Traffic Systems and Services' rates ranged from $95 to $105 an hour, and Bronder's rates ranged from $140 to $240 an hour.
Township manager Tom Knights said the commissioners will review the bids, and he anticipates they will award a contract at their Nov. 18 meeting.
Budget hearing
Also Monday, the commissioners announced they are holding a public budget hearing at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
Knights said department heads will outline their budget requests for next year at the meeting.
Dave Zarnick, commissioners chairman, encouraged residents to complete the 2020 census.
Census information impacts the township Liquid Fuels tax revenue, representation in U.S. House of Representatives and funding for programs including the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children, he said.
Commissioners also urged residents to participate in the logo survey on the website. The logos were prepared by students from Slippery Rock University.
