KC girls too much for Falcons

Allyson Kepple scored 16 points and Haley Callihan contributed 10 rebounds Friday night as the Karns City girls basketball team rolled past A-C Valley, 52-14.

Melissa Collier added 10 points, including the game's only trey, for the Gremlins.

A-C Valley managed just three field goals in the contest.

Knoch's boys and girls teams dropped a pair of meets this week, the boys losing to Burrell 85-58 and to Valley 77-63. The girls lost to Burrell 92-70 and to Valley 95-75.Against Burrell, Mike McCoy won the 100-yard freestyle in 1:00.46 for the Knights. On the girls side, Bethany Legin won the 100 backstroke in a WPIAL-qualifying time of 1:06.88. The girls 400 free relay team of Rachel Tano, Paula Pivaronas, Nichol Vogus and Legin won in 4:04.44.Against Valley, Dan Lutz won the 200 freestyle in 2:21.14 and Steve Edwards posted a victory. On the girls side, Tano won the 200 freestyle in a WPIAL-qualifying time of 2:08.93 and the 400 free relay team of Vogus, Pivaronas, Tina Gallo and Tano won in 4:12.44.Other WPIAL qualifiers for Knoch thus far are the girls 200 medley relay (Tano, Pivaronas, Vogus, Legin), the boys 200 medley relay (Lutz, Edwards, Doug Vogus, McCoy) and Vogus in the boys 200 IM.
