[naviga:h3]SRU hosts children for Earth Day[/naviga:h3]

SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University has scheduled an afternoon of Earth-friendly crafts, games and entertainment designed to teach children about sustainability and the environment.

The Children’s Earth Day Celebration will be from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Macoskey Center for Sustainability Systems Education and Research.

The celebration will include interactive demonstrations, including a chance for children to create their own planters, birdfeeders and solar-powered Frisbee art.

In addition to the activities, food, drinks and other forms of entertainment will be available.

[naviga:h3]SRU awarded for military friendliness[/naviga:h3]

SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University has been named a Military Friendly School by Victory Media.

SRU, which earned a Gold Award, was recognized for its best practices and support for post-military students.

Victory Media is a veteran-owned company that assists individuals in the transition from active service to civilian life. The company evaluated more than 1,400 schools in the this year’s survey, with 941 schools earning the designation or higher awarded status.
