GROVE CITY — Knoch graduate Logan DeJonge, a freshman on the Grove City College women’s track and field team, has been named ECAC Rookie of the Week.
DeJonge placed second in the long jump at Oberlin College’s Bob Kahn Invitational with a leap of 15 feet, three-quarters of an inch.
[naviga:h3]WPIAL announces Hall of Fame class[/naviga:h3]
GREENTREE — The 12th annual WPIAL Hall of Fame banquet will take place June 2 at the Greentree Doubletree Hotel. This year’s induction class was announced Thursday.
Athletes going in are football players Curtis Bray of Gateway and Hampton, Justin King of Gateway, A.Q. Shipley of Moon and Terry Smith of Gateway, track’s Breehana Jacobs of Laurel Highlands, wrestler Coleman Scott of Waynesburg, basketball players Lee Shaffer of Baldwin and Tanisha Wright of West Mifflin.
Ambridge and Springdale basketball coach Chuck DeVenzio and Clairton football coach Tom Nola will be inducted, as will the 1989 Sto-Rox football team, former WPIAL president Patrick Ratesic as a contributor.
Phil Bridenbaugh, football coach at New Castle for 34 years and Geneva College for five, will receive the Heritage Award.
