Larry Schad
Larry E. Schad, 72, of Butler, born March 4, 1954, in Butler, passed away peacefully at home Sunday, Oct. 18, 2026, after an extended illness. Larry was a beloved partner, brother and friend.
Larry was the son of the late Edward and Lillian (Nagy) Schad. A graduate of Butler Senior High, Larry pursued his passion for mechanics by operating his own repair garage. His love for the road led him to a career as a truck driver, a profession he enjoyed until his retirement. Even after retiring, Larry was always restoring a car or tinkering with equipment.
Until his father’s passing, Larry’s Sundays were often spent at Moraine State Park, fishing on their beloved boat. These outings were a testament to the strong bond he shared with his family. He also possessed an insatiable curiosity and a knack for trivia, often impressing those around him with his vast knowledge and quick wit.
He is survived by his lifelong partner, Richard Tremba, with whom he shared an unwavering bond since 1993; niece and nephew, Erin and Cory; and Sheila Schad, Roger and Joyce Tremba and Renae and Barry Barger.
Along with his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his brother, James “Jim.”
Those who knew Larry will remember him for his profound kindness and generosity. He had a way of making everyone feel welcomed and valued, leaving a lasting impression on all who crossed his path. His spirit and support will be dearly missed by those who had the privilege of knowing him.
He will be deeply missed yet fondly remembered by all whose lives he touched.
