Miller Minutes: ‘Now is the time to try new things’

Sure, there are tons of events going on in Butler County this week. But they’re the ones that signify a tragic end. The end of the greatest season.

Summer is winding down. We’re having our “last hurrahs” before students go back to school, and the glitter of pool water becomes the din of winter wind.

So, how do we make the most of it? My suggestion is to live these next two weeks as if your life was a movie. Romanticize it a little.

If there’s an event you see below that looks like it may be out of your comfort zone, you should go anyway. Now is the time to try new things before life goes “back to normal.”

I’m convinced everyone feels something toward the end of summer, even if you are no longer in school. Something else you can do to make for an easier transition is to prepare as if you were going back to school. Get some supplies! You earned it.

The point is, do something to mark the end of this time. Summer 2026 is essentially over, and if you haven’t made it memorable yet, this weekend is your chance!
