A Brackenridge man is accused of strangling a woman in her sleep in Winfield Township.

Tyler Michael Roberts, 29, was charged Monday, July 20, by state police with felony strangulation and misdemeanor simple assault following an incident Saturday.

Police said they were dispatched to Old Orchard Drive after a woman reported someone was trying to kill her. Police arrived and found the woman in a panic.

The woman said Roberts strangled her while she was trying to sleep. The woman had bruising and swelling around her neck, police said.

Police said Roberts also bit the woman on the cheek.

Roberts is being held in Butler County Prison on a $75,000 bail. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. July 28 before District Judge Jack D. Ripper.
