Richard Hinkle

Hinkle

Richard Eric Hinkle, 61, of Evans City, passed away peacefully at home Sunday, June 28, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born April 28, 1965, in Ellwood City, he was the beloved son of James and Patricia (Thompson) Hinkle.

Rich dedicated many years of his career as an insurance agent with State Farm. He loved traveling near and far, but his favorite destination was always the sandy beaches of Florida. Known as the life of every party, Rich had an incredible gift for storytelling. His quick wit, infectious laugh and larger-than-life personality made every gathering more memorable. He had a playlist for every occasion, took pride in always dressing to the nines and was a devoted Penn State fan.

Above all else, Rich was a loving husband, proud father and “Pap Pap.” Nothing brought him greater joy than spending time with his family, celebrating their accomplishments and making memories with his grandchildren. His love, laughter and unforgettable spirit will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

In addition to his parents, James and Patricia, Rich leaves behind his beloved wife of 38 years, Heather Anne (Young) Hinkle, whom he married June 18, 1988; his children, Jordan Elizabeth (Josh) Strausbaugh, Jenna Alexandra (Ryan) Nunamaker and Jared Richard (Stephanie) Hinkle; his cherished grandchildren, Amelia Anne Strausbaugh, Crew Richard Hinkle, Capri Grace Nunamaker and a fourth grandchild expected in October; his much-loved mother-in-law, Rita Young Guy; as well as his siblings, Brenda Liebendorfer, Kim (Jack) North, Bill (Darlene) Hinkle and Jim (Sue) Hinkle.

Rich also leaves behind a large extended family of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and cherished friends, all of whom will miss him dearly.
