Lawrence Allen “Larry” Hecox, J.D., 94, of Zelienople, passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2026.

Born in Dallas, Texas, Feb. 15, 1932, Larry lived by the principle: “Everyone to whom much was given, of him much will be required.” Luke 12:48

Educated at Colorado Military Academy, Fountain Valley School, Williams College and the University of Colorado School of Law, Larry served as a captain in the U.S. Marine Corps.

A lifelong adventurer, Larry was an avid mountaineer, skier, scuba diver, golfer and traveler who shared these passions with his family. Professionally, he founded a prestigious Colorado Springs law firm, won landmark jury verdicts and argued before the U.S. Supreme Court. Beyond his career, he was dedicated to the Big Brother program, church leadership and various boards.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jane Marshall Hecox. He is survived by his daughter, Cynthia Johnson; two grandchildren, Matthew Johnson (Lauren) and Margy Riggle (Corey); and seven great-grandchildren.

HECOX — A celebration of life for Lawrence Allen “Larry” Hecox, who died Wednesday, June 10, 2026, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, at the Community Room of Newhaven in the Passavant Lutheran Community, with a second service to follow at a later date at The Chapel of Our Savior, Colorado Springs, Colo.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Fountain Valley School, fvs.edu/give.
