Dennis Hartzell
Dennis “Butch” E. Hartzell, 71, of Cranberry, born Oct. 3, 1954, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 7, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Dennis lived his life with a big heart and a deep devotion to the people he loved. He was incredibly proud of his children and never missed a chance to tell others about them.
A welder for many years, Dennis was known by many as “the Animal” or “MacGyver” — the guy who never stopped, never quit and could fix just about anything.
Dennis had a lifelong love of rock music and enjoyed playing softball in his younger years. He finished his working career at Nuttall Golf Cars, where he formed a friendship that meant the world to him.
He was a caring, thoughtful man who never forgot a birthday and always made sure the people in his life felt cherished.
He is survived by his children, Matt (Pamela) Hartzell, Ryan Hartzell and Ashley (Zachary) Purvis; and by his grandchildren, Breanna, Brandon, Mason and Kyle. He is also survived by his siblings, Linda (John) Schlichtkrull, Tommie (Holly) Hartzell, Robin (Tim) Rausch, Chuckie (Michelle) Hartzell, Bob Hartzell, Dale (Pauline) Hartzell and Kathy Montgomery.
Dennis was preceded in death by his mother, Earlene Hartzell; and his father, Robert Hartzell.
