Single-lane restriction scheduled Wednesday for Karns Crossing bridge
The Karns Crossing bridge, which spans Connoquenessing Creek on Route 68 and East Jefferson Street, will be restricted to one lane Wednesday, June 10, for beam setting, according to a news release from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.
The beam setting is weather dependent, PennDOT said. Flaggers will direct traffic through the intersections of Route 68 and East Jefferson Street and the Route 422 East on- and off-ramps.
The Karns Crossing Bridge project replaces the bridge and an adjacent arch culvert over Connoquenessing Creek. It also includes traffic safety and capacity improvements at the intersection of Route 68 and Delwood Road and the intersection of Route 68 and the Route 422 East on-ramp.
Swank Construction Company of New Kensington is estimated to complete the $64.8 million project in spring 2028.
