Charges filed in I-79 rollover crash
A Jenkintown man is facing charges related to a rollover crash involving a tractor trailer on Interstate 79 in Worth Township.
Brett M. Kellogg, 53, was charged Tuesday, May 26, by state police in Butler with misdemeanor accident involving injury following the April 14 crash.
Police said they were dispatched April 14 to mile marker 104.3 on I-79 northbound for reports of a two-vehicle crash with injuries. Police found a heavily damaged Chevrolet Colorado on Brandon Road, which runs perpendicular to I-79, under an overpass. Brandon Road also turns into Kelly Road at the overpass.
Police determined vehicles were to be traveling in the left lane on I-79 at the time of the crash due to construction. Police said a Novik semitruck was traveling in the right lane before the lane restriction and quickly cut over, striking the Colorado.
Police said the Colorado then left the road, crashed into a guardrail and rolled numerous times down a hill before stopping under the overpass on Brandon Road. The semitruck continued driving, police said.
The driver of the Colorado was transported by helicopter to an area hospital with serious injuries and remained there for multiple days.
Police then contacted the company and were told Kellogg was driving the semitruck.
Kellogg’s preliminary hearing is yet to be scheduled.
