Slippery Rock man accused of rape
A Slippery Rock man has been charged with imprisoning a woman in his apartment, assaulting her and raping her over the weekend.
Brandon R. Brenner, 34, is facing a felony rape charge and misdemeanor charges of false imprisonment and simple assault filed by state police.
According to police, they responded to Brenner’s apartment on Cornish Drive on Sunday, May 24, when the woman reported Brenner took her car keys and wouldn’t let her leave. The woman told police that she had been a prisoner in his apartment since Saturday night.
Police said she reported Brenner was upset over messages on her phone. She said he pushed her in the kitchen, grabbed her forearms and pressed her against a wall, and she hit him in self-defense, according to an affidavit. She showed police bruises on her forearms and said they were caused by Brenner.
After fighting and arguing, she went to the bedroom where Brenner allegedly held her arms down on the bed and raped her after she said she did not want to have sex, according to the affidavit. The woman told police she gave in because she was afraid.
The affidavit indicates Brenner told police the sex was consensual.
Police said the woman feared Brenner would kill her and had done this to her before.
Brenner is being held in Butler County Prison. His preliminary hearing in front of District Judge Joseph Nash is pending.
