Michael T. Fennell, 56, of Fenelton, passed away Tuesday evening, May 12, 2026, at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born in Kittanning on March 2, 1970, he was the son of the late James A. Fennell and Janet Kay Lias Fennell.

Mike graduated from Butler High School in 1988 and Butler County Area Vocational-Technical School in heating and refrigeration. Mike worked for the former Food Arena during high school. Mike enlisted in the U.S. Army in July 1988 and served until July 1993, earning the rank of staff sergeant.

After returning home from the service, Mike worked for the former Eljer plant in Ford City and Wise Business Forms in Butler. He moved to Lancaster County in 1998, being employed by Cadmus Communications and Case New Holland Distribution Center in Mountville. He enjoyed helping his sister at her Subway in Stonemill Plaza, before moving back to Western Pennsylvania in 2020.

Mike was a member of the Foresters of America, Chicora Moose, VFW Post 7073, in Parker, American Legion Post 488, Bradys Bend, and a former member of the Happy Hunters Sportsman’s Club.

Mike was known as “Pittsburgh Mike” while living in Lancaster County, a die hard fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Mike's favorite truck was the Chevy S-10 and he drove them the majority of his adult life. Mike enjoyed playing baseball during his youth, fishing and hunting. Mike enjoyed playing the Pennsylvania Lottery and shopping with his mom. He was proud of the title Uncle Mike to his sister's many dachshunds throughout the years. He enjoyed feeding and taking care of stray cats.

Mike will be dearly missed by his mother, Janet K. Fennell, of Fenelton; and his sister, Melanie B. Scheid, of Lancaster; as well as aunts, cousins and friends.

FENNELL — Friends of Michael T. Fennell, who died Tuesday, May 12, 2026, will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 19, at HILE FUNERAL HOME OF CHICORA, 339 Chicora-Fenelton Road, Chicora.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend Mike's funeral service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 20, at the funeral home.

Interment will be held in Worthington Lutheran Cemetery, Worthington, Pa.

Please omit flowers, memorial remembrances may be made in Mike's memory to the Fenelton United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 38, Fenelton, PA 16034.

Funeral services are under the direction of his sister, MELANIE B. SCHEID.
