Evans City woman allegedly leads police on short chase on Route 422

An Evans City woman is accused of leading police on a short chase Friday night along Route 422 through Clearfield and Summit townships, according to state police.

Nicole Renee Smith, 41, was charged Monday, May 18, with felony fleeing police and two misdemeanor DUI counts following a traffic stop around 10 p.m.

Police said they spotted Smith’s Ford F-150XLT near the intersection of Route 422 and Old Route 422 in Clearfield Township and attempted a traffic stop.

Police said Smith drove about half a mile before pulling over, but before police could exit their vehicle, she reportedly sped off.

Police chased Smith about 1.5 miles, reaching speeds above 100 mph before she pulled over again at 509 Route 422 East in Summit Township.

Police said Smith had a BrAC of 0.193%. The legal limit in Pennsylvania is 0.08%.
