Patricia L. Smith, 73, of Butler, passed away Friday, May 8, 2026.

She was born in Butler on May 8, 1953, daughter of the late Donald Hanford and Julia (Fonar) Koons.

Patricia graduated from Butler High School in 1972. She was a baker by trade, and most recently worked at Donut Connection in Butler, for over 20 years.

She was known to brighten anyone’s day with her kindness and witty sense of humor. Patricia was friendly and personable to all she met and always had a bubbly demeanor. Patricia was a devoted Pittsburgh Steelers fan, avid thrifter and craft fair attendee.

Patricia was the beloved wife of the late George Smith, whom she married June 25, 1977, until his passing on Nov. 27, 2020; mother of Lynette (Christopher) Cyphert, Dr. Mallory (Jonathan) Markloff and Travis (Dr. Alexa Laudenslager) Smith; sister of Darryl (Jill) Hanford, Sharon (Bill) Douthett and Daniel (Melanie) Hanford; grandmother of Austin (Jade) Goepfert, Bailey and Addalyn Cyphert, Caleb, Grace and Samuel Markloff; and great-grandmother of Nova Goepfert.

Along with her parents and husband, Patricia was preceded in death by her stepfather, Russell Koons; and her sister, Jacqueline Hanford.

SMITH — All arrangements for Patricia L. Smith, who died Friday, May 8, 2026, will be held privately through SPENCER D. GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 140 New Castle Road, Butler.

A celebration of life for Patricia and her husband is being planned for a later date.
