Police: Man struck BMH security officer while fleeing
A Butler man was charged with aggravated assault after police said he struck a security officer at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Anthony Donald Oliverio, 21, was charged with felony aggravated assault, misdemeanor disorderly conduct and summary harassment following an incident at the hospital Sunday, April 19.
Butler Township police said hospital security captain Troy Hickman told them security officer Colin Toy attempted to stop Oliverio from fleeing the hospital before he was punched in the face twice.
A nurse who was watching Oliverio told police he became angry after speaking to his mother on the phone, flipped over a table and attempted to run. She said Oliverio struck the security officer twice near the front desk of the emergency room.
The officer told police he could not remember being struck twice and stated he may have briefly lost consciousness. He told police he wanted to press charges.
The case has been assigned to District Judge Kevin O’Donnell. A preliminary hearing is yet to be scheduled.
